Purpose: The purpose of the Community Service Committee is to promote the American Legion Auxiliary’s commitment to making our communities better places to live by supporting local service projects. Community Service has been a major mission outreach program of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1926. Shows the American Legion Auxiliary commitment to making our communities a better place to live. Community Service overlaps with many other committees.

Here is a list of what is included in Community Service:

• Community Service Events such as community dinners or luncheons etc.

• Service Volunteers: Libraries, food shelves, senior centers, nursing homes, assistant living centers, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, and churches.

• Community Clean Up such as park clean ups, yard clean ups, roadside clean ups.

• Cards to residents in nursing homes or assistant living centers.

• Donating to food shelves or homeless shelters or domestic violence shelters.

• American Legion Family Day

  • An event the invite the community to that shows Who the American Legion Family is. What we do. Have History, membership applications, and veteran benefits information.

• National Days of Service

  • Martin Luther King Day

  • 9/11 Day of Service

 

This is where everyone in your community can benefit not just for veterans or military.
